As you could see in our Car Radio page it’s almost impossible to find the Coustic car radio used in the Back to the Future Delorean. Luckely a lot of the 80s car radio’s are looking similar and can be modified to look close to the Coustic using an updated faceplate and cassette sticker. Here are a couple of donor radio’s that can be used as a base for a BTTF conversion
Sadly enough the single ‘stereo’ led (yellow), the Fast Forward arrow (geen), ‘ff” letters (red) and ‘FM/AM-FM/ST switch (blue) of the screen used radio is on none of the donors above
Using screenshots from the video and pictures from the A-car restoration we came up with a new frontplate, acrylic frequency readings & cassette lid cover of what we believe looks identical to the screen used radio
The donor radio that came closest to the Coustic (on the left) was the IBIZA KLM. We reprinted the faceplate, cassete lid sticker, acrylic frequency plate with a single stereo led, the correct labels on the cassettebox and new AM/FM switch
